Lucy Zodion recently welcomed a work experience student to the company on a week-long placement. Josh Long joined us as part of his year 10 careers initiative, which encourages students to experience a real-world working environment in a subject of interest.
Josh has an interest in, and a good understanding of, electrical design so his placement with Lucy Zodion’s operations and engineering teams was a great fit. From learning about industry standards, to gaining first-hand experience of the design and development of Lucy Zodion’s street lighting control products, Josh’s placement was varied and focussed on his interests.
Josh even got involved in a mini project whilst he was at Lucy Zodion, where he helped to scope and recommend technical specifications for one of our latest street lighting isolators.
Josh comments on his placement:
I thought Lucy Zodion was a very nice place with plenty of hardworking and learned people that knew what they were doing and explained it very well. Not only did they ask for my opinion but they took my input on board and would use it to improve. I would definitely recommend going and having a look at their work.
Lucy Zodion is a great advocate of providing opportunities for young people to explore the dynamic world of engineering and manufacturing. We’re glad Josh enjoyed his visit and hope it has provided him with the necessary insight to help him with his career choices in the future.
